My name is Josephine. I have always been passionate about health and wellness. I became a Nutrition Health Coach because I wanted to expand my knowledge in the area of nutrition and use this knowledge to help myself first, and then others. Throughout my educational journey, I delved into the intricacies of nutrition, earning a certification that solidified my understanding of the science behind food and its effects on the body.
My personal challenges started when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes when I became pregnant with my now 20 years old son. Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy. It typically develops around the 24th to 28th week of pregnancy.
Gestational diabetes occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin to meet the extra needs of pregnancy. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that helps regulate blood sugar levels. During pregnancy, the placenta produces hormones that can make it harder for insulin to do its job effectively, leading to insulin resistance and elevated blood sugar levels.
With proper management, I was able to have a healthy pregnancy and I was blessed with a healthy baby boy. Immediately after my son was born, my blood sugar levels returned to normal. Unfortunately, mothers who have had gestational diabetes are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life if they don’t care of the nutrition, and sure enough, 10 years later, I was diagnosed with prediabetes.
Having struggle with my own blood sugar imbalance/prediabetes, I have a deep empathy for the toll an unhealthy lifestyle can take. I also struggled with my own relationship with food for many years. Those struggles are what sent me on my journey to study nutrition.
The path of a nutrition health coach was also my opportunity to take charge of my own health. Through science-based nutrition education, and mindful eating, I was able to finally understand my body and how to feed it in order to thrive. I learned the foundational steps for awakening the Best Version of myself, and in turn my full potential as a coach. After experiencing firsthand, the transformative power of proper nutrition, I made it my mission to guide others towards a similar breakthrough.
I partner with clients seeking to enhance their well-being through self-directed, lasting changes. I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, each with their own unique goals and obstacles.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing the incredible transformations my clients undergo. From weight loss milestones, reversing their diabetes, to correcting their metabolic health, their successes reaffirm the profound impact nutrition can have on overall well-being.
My approach to nutrition coaching is rooted in empathy and understanding. I recognize that each individual is on a unique path, and I tailor my guidance to meet their specific needs and preferences. I’m committed to empowering them every step of the way. After all, I have been in their shoes, and I am also on my own health journey.
It is so gratifying and empowering to see my clients learn more about themselves and the power they hold as the CEO of their bodies. As we continue on this health journey, I remain dedicated to ongoing learning and growth in this ever-evolving field of nutrition.
